Disney World is often referred to as the “Most Magical Place on Earth,” but much of that magical enchantment is due to the incredible Disney Cast Members who go above and beyond to create special moments for guests.

Whether it’s a cheerful greeting, a small act of kindness, or saving the day with expert problem-solving, Cast Members are the heartbeat of the Disney experience.

One of the simplest and most impactful ways to thank these dedicated individuals is by leaving a Cast Compliment. But what exactly happens when you leave one? What do Disney employees get for Cast Compliments, and why should you take a moment to leave one during your visit? Let’s explore everything you need to know about this heartfelt tradition.

What Are Cast Compliments?

Cast Compliments are a way for Disney guests to recognize and thank Cast Members for their exceptional service. These bits of recognition can be given to Disney employees who work anywhere on property, including the resorts, theme parks, restaurants, transportation systems, and more.

You can submit a Cast Compliment through various channels. The most common way is through the My Disney Experience app, but you can also submit one at Guest Relations or even on social media using hashtags like #CastCompliment.

Think of it as a way to say, “Thank you for making my day magical!” Whether it’s a server who ensured your allergy-friendly meal was perfect, a PhotoPass photographer who captured a beautiful moment, or a ride operator who shared an extra dose of Disney cheer, any Cast Member can receive a compliment.

What Do Disney Employees Receive for Cast Compliments?

Now that you know what a Cast Compliment is, you might be wondering: What do Cast Members actually get from this recognition? While it might not involve monetary rewards, Cast Compliments carry significant value for the majority of Disney employees.

Here are some ways that leaving a an official compliment can impact a Cast Member:

Personal Recognition

Each compliment that is submitted is shared directly with the Cast Member and their supervisor. For many, this acknowledgment is a morale boost and a tangible reminder of the impact they have on guests who are staying at or visiting Disney World.

Certificates and Notes

In some cases, Cast Members receive certificates or written notes documenting or celebrating the compliment. These are more likely to get to a Cast Member if you leave them in person at Guest Relations. These serve as cherished mementos of the positive experiences the employee helped create.

A Record in the Employee’s File

While Cast Compliments don’t directly impact a Cast Member’s pay or salary, they do stay in an employee’s record and file. This means they can be useful if that employee is up for a promotion, transfer, or other work-related opportunity.

Emotional Rewards

All Cast Members will have a different reaction to receiving compliments from guests. However, many Cast Members appreciate the joy and pride that come with knowing they’ve made someone’s day.

How to Leave a Cast Compliment

There are a few different ways to leave a Cast Compliment to recognize a stellar Disney employee. Here’s how to do it:

Through the My Disney Experience App

One of the easiest ways to leave a compliment is through the My Disney Experience app. Open the app, click the menu icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, and scroll down to the Cast Compliments link under the Help & Feedback section. This will take you to a form that you can fill out with details about your experience.

Be as specific as possible — include the Cast Member’s name, role, hometown, and the location where the interaction happened to ensure they receive the recognition. You can find the Cast Member’s name and hometown on their nametag.

It’s worth noting that you won’t be able to write up a personalized message or note in the My Disney Experience app. Instead, there is a drop-down menu that includes the most common reasons for a compliment. So, if you want to create something personalized, you’re better off doing it in person at Guest Relations.

At Guest Relations

If you prefer the old-fashioned way, stop by Guest Relations before you leave the park. Share your story with the Cast Member assisting you, and they’ll record it for you. If you leave a compliment here, Cast Members often receive a physical copy that can serve as a memento.

On Social Media

Disney actively monitors social media for posts tagged with #CastCompliment. Many guests share their stories on platforms like Twitter or Instagram. When doing this, include as much detail as possible — name tags and roles are a big help!

If you want the compliment to reach Disney management and the Cast Member, we recommend going through the app or stopping by Guest Relations, since social media compliments can be missed. However, if you want to share the magic that a Cast Member made for you far and wide, put it out there on your social accounts! Maybe it will go viral and get the deserving Cast Member some more attention and praise.

Why Should Guests Leave Cast Compliments?

Leaving a Cast Compliment is not just about rewarding a Cast Member — it’s also a way to contribute to the overall Disney magic. Here are are a few reasons you should take a moment to leave one:

It encourages outstanding service. When you acknowledge excellent service, you motivate Cast Members to continue going above and beyond. Your feedback shows them that their efforts are noticed and valued.

It spreads positivity. Disney is a place of joy, and leaving a Cast Compliment adds to that atmosphere. It’s a simple way to make someone’s day brighter, whether they’re a Cast Member or a fellow guest inspired by your story.

It enhances your experience. Taking the time to reflect on the positive moments of your day can enhance your own experience. It’s a chance to focus on the magical memories you’ve made and share them with others.

Tips for Leaving an Effective Cast Compliment

If you want to ensure your compliment stands out and reaches the right person? Follow these tips:

  • Be Specific: Include the Cast Member’s name, role, and location. For example, “Jamie, the greeter at the Haunted Mansion on October 10th.” If you can also note the Cast Member’s hometown, that can help differentiate Cast Members who have the same name.
  • Describe the Experience: Share what made the interaction special. Did they solve a problem, brighten your day, or add a magical touch?
  • Use Official Channels: While social media is great, the My Disney Experience app and Guest Relations are the most reliable ways to ensure your compliment is recorded and reaches the Cast Member.
