Alcohol at Magic Kingdom: Where to Find Beer, Wine & Cocktails

Be our Guest restaurant in the Magic Kingdom

In terms of Disney theme parks, the Magic Kingdom hasn’t always been the easiest spot to unwind with an alcoholic drink. Once an alcohol-free zone, guests who were used to drinking around the world in Epcot and saddling up to a bar in Hollywood Studios were generally surprised and often disappointed when they couldn’t easily find an adult beverage in the Magic Kingdom.

But times have changed! The Magic Kingdom now allows alcohol — though only in certain table-service restaurants. This guide will give you the lowdown on where to find beer, wine, and cocktails, and how to make the most of your visit.

Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner, a celebratory family meal, or just looking to relax after a long day of rides, knowing where to find your favorite drink can add an extra touch of enjoyment to a fun-filled day at the Magic Kingdom.

Alcohol Policy in Magic Kingdom

Let’s start with a little background. For many years, Magic Kingdom had a strict no-alcohol policy in place. This was in line with Walt Disney’s original vision of a family-friendly park where kids could run wild without the influence of adult indulgences.

While that policy still mostly holds true, things have loosened up a bit. In 2012, Magic Kingdom began offering alcohol. But there are still some policies around where and how it is served that guests should know:

Table-service only: The key here is that you won’t find kiosks selling beer or margaritas like in EPCOT. Alcohol is only available in certain restaurants, meaning you have to sit down for a meal if you’re looking to enjoy a drink.

Limited menus: It’s also important to note that alcohol options at these restaurants are limited to what is on the menu. You can’t just order a typical bar drink or a shot and expect the restaurant to serve it. Alcoholic availability may also differ between types of meals. So, make sure to review the menu in advance for your lunch or dinner if you plan on ordering an adult beverage.

No take-out alcohol: If you think you’re going to order a drink at dinner and walk out of the restaurant with it, think again. Security in the Magic Kingdom watches for open containers of alcohol. You will be asked to dump your drink if you leave a restaurant with it in hand.

These policies ensure that the Magic Kingdom remains family-friendly and prevents it from having the on-the-go drinking culture of some other Disney theme parks.

There’s something about being inside the castle that feels extra special, especially with a glass of bubbly in hand. Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen

Atmosphere: If you love the humor and adventure of the Jungle Cruise, you’ll feel right at home at Skipper Canteen. The restaurant is themed as the headquarters for the Jungle Cruise skippers, and the quirky décor and pun-filled jokes from the servers make for a fun dining experience. The cuisine has an adventurous global twist, with flavors inspired by Asia, South America, and Africa.

Personal Tip: Skipper Canteen is perfect for those with an adventurous palate. My husband and I love trying the more exotic beers here on our vacations. The Jungle Bird is my go-to on a hot day — it’s fruity but balanced with just the right amount of bitterness.

Liberty Tree Tavern

Atmosphere: Located right off of Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom, the Liberty Tree Tavern has a classic American feel, with colonial décor and hearty, comfort food. If you’re a history buff or just enjoy a good old-fashioned Thanksgiving-style meal, this is the spot for you.

Alcoholic Beverages: Specialty cocktails, wine, beer, hard cider

Drink Highlights:

  • Beer: They offer American classics like Sam Adams Boston Lager, which pairs perfectly with their roast turkey dinner, and Angry Orchard Hard Cider, a crisp alternative if you’re not a big beer drinker.
  • Wine: The wine menu features a selection of American wines, like the Liberty Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, which complements the tavern’s robust meals nicely.
  • Cocktails: For a taste of history, try the Patriot Punch, a rum-based drink that feels like a little nod to colonial America.

Personal Tip: We love Liberty Tree Tavern for its comfort food, especially on cooler days. A glass of hard cider with their hearty pot roast just hits the spot. But don’t sleep on this restaurant’s cocktail menu. They have some unique options that don’t disappoint.

The Plaza Restaurant

Atmosphere: The Plaza Restaurant is a hidden gem. It’s small, quaint, and right on Main Street U.S.A., so you can enjoy a meal while people-watching. The menu is mostly comfort food, and it’s a bit more casual than some of the other options. It’s a great spot if you’re in the mood for a drink, but don’t want things to feel too stuffy.

Alcoholic Beverages: Specialty cocktails, beer, wine

Drink Highlights:

  • Beer: The beer selection here is pretty basic with Bud Light and Blue Moon on the menu. But you’ll also find Cigar City Jai Alai IPA. It’s a hoppy beer from a Florida brewery that’s gained quite a following.
  • Wine: They offer wines from California and Washington, a nice variety of reds and whites to choose from.
  • Cocktails: If you want something unique, go for the Jack Rose cocktail, which features Laird’s Applejack brandy, hibiscus grenadine, lemon juice, and lime juice.

Personal Tip: This is a go-to when you want a laid-back lunch with the family. The white sangria is perfect for a quick recharge after a morning of running around the park.

Tony’s Town Square Restaurant

Atmosphere: Inspired by Lady and the Tramp, Tony’s Town Square is an Italian-themed restaurant located at the entrance of Magic Kingdom. The food — which has gotten better over the past few years — is classic Italian fare, and you can even get a spot on the patio to watch the parades go by.

Alcoholic Beverages: Beer, wine, cocktails

Drink Highlights:

  • Beer: They’ve got Peroni and some Italian craft beers, which are great to pair with the restaurant’s pizzas and pastas.
  • Wine: Of course, they serve Italian wines! Think Chianti and Pinot Grigio. Several blends are from the Tuscany region, and you can get wines by the glass or bottle.
  • Cocktails: The Limoncello Sidecar and Little Italy Cocktail are both standout options if you’re craving a little taste of Italy.

Personal Tip: The patio at Tony’s Town Square is perfect during parade times. While you can’t directly reserve a patio spot, you can request one when making your advance dining reservations and the restaurant will do their best to accommodate.

Crystal Palace

Atmosphere: Crystal Palace is a character dining experience with Winnie the Pooh and friends. If you’re doing a character meal with the kids, alcoholic drinks may not be top of mind. But you can find a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails here if you’re looking for them. The buffet-style restaurant is popular with families, and the Victorian-inspired decor makes for a classic Magic Kingdom experience.

Alcoholic Beverages: Beer, wine, cocktails

Drink Highlights:

  • Beer: Don’t expect a ton of craft beers or hard-to-find options. Here you’ll get Bud Light, Blue Moon, and a couple of other standard options.
  • Wine: A mix of American and international wines are available, such as Fess Parker Riesling and J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Cocktails: You’ll find the same cocktails here as you will at The Plaza restaurant. There’s the white sangria, the Jack Rose, a Bloody Mary, and a mimosa.

Personal Tip: Crystal Palace is a great choice for families. While the focus is on the character interactions for the kids, it’s nice to sip a glass of wine while watching the little ones light up as Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet come around the table.

The Diamond Horseshoe

Atmosphere: Step into the Wild West at The Diamond Horseshoe, a rustic saloon with hearty, all-you-can-eat offerings. While this is certainly not the most popular restaurant in the Magic Kingdom, it does usually have walk-up tables and it does serve alcoholic drinks at lunch and dinner. The old-timey atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Western, complete with dark wood accents and cowboy-themed décor.

Alcoholic Beverages: Beer, hard cider, wine, cocktails

Drink Highlights:

  • Beer: Pair your BBQ with beers like Sam Adams Boston Lager or Michelob Ultra for a lighter option.
  • Wine: You’ll find a selection of approachable wines, including Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, which are solid options to pair with your family-style food.
  • Cocktails: The cocktails here are mostly the same as at The Liberty Tree, so you’ll find that Ginger Pear Snap on the menu. Or you can opt for the Gold Rush, a bourbon-based drink with lemon juice, honey, and crystalized ginger.

Personal Tip: This is a decent option for diners that like to fly by the seat of their pants and don’t make advanced dining reservations. If you can’t find a table at the other restaurants in Magic Kingdom that serve alcohol and you really want to sit down and have a drink, head to the Diamond Horseshoe.

Other Alcohol Options in the Magic Kingdom

There are two exceptions that don’t really fall under this table-service category for serving alcohol in the Magic Kingdom:

Dessert Parties in the Magic Kingdom: If you purchase tickets to a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party, called Seats & Sweets, beer and wine will be available as part of the ticketed event. These parties take place on Tomorrowland Terrace and offer a prime view of the Happily Ever After Fireworks with a dessert buffet and limited alcoholic drinks for those that which to imbibe.

Club 33: While technically Club 33 offers table service, it’s not a restaurant in the traditional sense of the word. This exclusive membership-only club costs a TON of money to join and offers an exclusive spot to unwind with special park access, gourmet meals, and — yes — alcoholic drinks. In the Magic Kingdom, Club 33 is located in Adventureland. If you happen to be a member or know somebody who is a member, you can get alcohol at this privileged location.

Tips for Enjoying Alcohol at the Magic Kingdom

Here are a few tips that have helped me enjoy a well-deserved vacation drink in the Magic Kingdom while still keeping things fun and family-friendly:

Pace yourself. Magic Kingdom is a big park, and you don’t want to overdo it with alcohol too early. While a beer with lunch may be fine, it may make sense to reserve cocktails and liquor for dinner. And make sure to stay hydrated if you plan on having alcohol in the heat of summer at the park.

Mark a special occasion. If you are going to be celebrating something in Disney World, there’s no better way to do it than with a special alcoholic drink in the most magical park. Many of the restaurants listed above — especially Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest — have drinks like champagne and specialty cocktails that are perfect for toasting and making memories.

Try non-alcoholic options for kids. Many of these restaurants offer fun, non-alcoholic cocktails. So, the kids can feel like they’re joining in on the special fun.

Consider a resort drink instead. The Magic Kingdom is surrounded by resorts like the Polynesian, the Contemporary, and the Grand Floridian that all have great bar and lounge options with much larger drink menus. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the Magic Kingdom, you can definitely find it nearby. Pop over to one of these resorts via the monorail for a special dinner reservation or a drink date, then head back to the park and end your fun-filled day with a fireworks viewing!

To Sum it Up

Magic Kingdom has certainly evolved in its approach to alcohol, offering a carefully curated selection of drinks that complement the park’s many table-service dining experiences.

Whether you’re toasting to a magical day with a glass of wine or enjoying a light cocktail with dinner, these options add a little extra sparkle to your Disney vacation.

So go ahead, relax, and enjoy the magic — responsibly, of course!
